3-3/4" Cabinet Pulls

A 3-3/4" pull has 96 mm between the centers of its two screw holes, and it is the size you will find on most kitchen and bath cabinets today. If your current pulls measure this way, every design here fits the same holes with no drilling. Each one is from Richelieu and comes with screws for a 3/4" door or drawer front.

About 3-3/4" pulls

Why 3-3/4" (96 mm) Is the Go-To Pull Size

Most cabinet hardware is now designed in metric, and hole spacing follows the European 32 mm system. 96 mm is three of those steps. Converted, it comes to 3.78", which is why the size is sold as 3-3/4". It is short enough to sit neatly on a door stile yet long enough to grab with your whole hand, so many kitchens use it on every door and on the smaller drawers.

Because it is so widely used, this size comes in a broad choice of finishes and designs. Brushed nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, matte black and chrome lead the way, joined by champagne bronze, satin brass, pewter, wrought iron and two-tone pieces. Shapes run from modern bars to transitional pulls and traditional arches. If you are replacing hardware, there is a good chance your existing holes are this size.

Doors and drawers that suit 3-3/4"

On doors, 3-3/4" works at almost any height, mounted vertically on the stile opposite the hinge. On drawers, the 1/3 rule puts it on fronts about 11" to 15" wide, such as narrow base drawers and the top drawer of a 15" stack. Wider drawers can look underdressed with it, so pair it with 6-1/4" on 18" drawers and 7-1/2" on 24" ones.

Mixing 3-3/4" on doors with longer drawer pulls

One size on every door and drawer is the simplest layout. Larger kitchens often keep 3-3/4" on the doors and use the same design one or two sizes longer on the wide drawers. Pick a design that is made in several lengths, use one finish throughout, and center every drawer pull on its front. The doors and drawers then read as a matched set even though the lengths differ.

Swapping old pulls: 3-3/4" or 96 mm?

They are the same size. 3-3/4" works out to 95.25 mm, and 96 mm pulls fit those holes without any drilling because the screw holes allow a little play. To check, remove one pull and measure center to center. A reading of 3" means you want our 3" pulls. A reading of 5" or more points you to 5" pulls.

Finishes that look right at this length

A 3-3/4" pull is small enough that a bold finish never overwhelms the door, which makes it a good size for trying a darker or warmer color. Brushed nickel and chrome keep white cabinets like Fabuwood Allure Galaxy Frost crisp. Matte black outlines light gray doors such as Galaxy Nickel. Champagne bronze warms up navy Galaxy Indigo, and oil-rubbed bronze looks at home on the grain of Galaxy Natural Oak.

3-3/4 Inch Pull FAQ

What is the most common cabinet pull size?

3-3/4" (96 mm) is the most common size on kitchen and bath cabinets today, with 5" (128 mm) close behind. Both are standard metric spacings used by hardware makers worldwide, so matching replacement pulls stay easy to find if you ever add a cabinet or change a finish.

How long is a 3-3/4" pull overall?

Longer than its hole spacing. Most 96 mm pulls measure about 5" to 5-3/8" end to end, and some decorative designs run longer. The exact overall length is in each product's specifications, which helps when a pull has to clear a drawer edge or line up with a knob layout.

Is 3-3/4" too small for kitchen drawers?

Not on drawers up to about 15" wide. On 18" to 36" drawers it can look small, so many kitchens step up to 5" or long pulls there. Two 3-3/4" pulls on one wide drawer is another option for a traditional kitchen.

What size drill bit do 3-3/4" pulls need?

A 3/16" bit for standard 8-32 machine screws. Mark both hole centers 96 mm apart with a hardware template, drill straight through from the front, and fasten from inside with the included screws, which fit a 3/4" door or drawer front.
