A prefabricated vanity top arrives as one finished piece: the counter, the backsplash and the sink are already together, cut to a standard vanity width and drilled for the faucet. For most bathrooms that turns the countertop from a two week fabrication job into something you order alongside the vanity and install the same day it lands.

Why Homeowners Choose a Prefabricated Top

Buying a custom countertop for a bathroom means a template visit, a slab selection, a fabrication window and a second trip to install. That process makes sense for a large kitchen island with an unusual shape. For a vanity that is a standard 25, 31, 37, 43, 49 or 61 inches wide, it adds cost and weeks for a result that looks the same.

A prefabricated top skips all of it. The piece is made to a set size, the bowl is already bonded in place, and the faucet hole is already drilled. Your installer sets it on the vanity, connects the drain and supply lines, and the bathroom is finished. If you are replacing a vanity in a powder room or a childrens bathroom, this is usually the difference between a weekend project and a month of waiting.

It also removes the part of a bathroom remodel that most often goes wrong. When the counter, bowl and backsplash are sourced separately, they have to be matched for color, edge profile and bowl cutout. Here they arrive as one unit, made to fit each other.

What Comes in the Box

Every one of these tops includes the same four things, whichever size and finish you choose:

• The vanity counter top, 22 inches deep, in your chosen finish.
• A 4 inch backsplash, which is the upstand that runs along the wall behind the counter. It keeps water off the drywall and saves you tiling or caulking a raw edge.
• An integrated rectangular sink, already bonded into the top. Integrated means there is no separate rim sitting proud of the surface and no seam around the bowl to trap grime, so the counter wipes clean in one pass.
• A predrilled 1-3/8 inch faucet hole, which is the standard opening for a single hole faucet. Your plumber will not need to drill stone on site.

Because the bowl is fixed and the hole is already cut, the one thing to settle before ordering is the faucet. A single hole faucet drops straight in. If you have your heart set on a widespread faucet with separate handles, tell us before you order and we will confirm what is possible.

Sizes and How to Measure

Tops come in six widths, and each one is cut slightly wider than the vanity it sits on so it overhangs the front and sides a little:

• VT24 fits a 24 inch vanity, top measures 25 inches wide
• VT30 fits a 30 inch vanity, top measures 31 inches wide
• VT36 fits a 36 inch vanity, top measures 37 inches wide
• VT42 fits a 42 inch vanity, top measures 43 inches wide
• VT48 fits a 48 inch vanity, top measures 49 inches wide
• VT60 fits a 60 inch vanity, top measures 61 inches wide

All six are 22 inches deep. To check yours, measure the vanity cabinet itself rather than the old countertop, because the top you are replacing may already overhang by a different amount. Measure at the wall, since a wall that runs out of square will show at the back edge.

At 61 inches you have a choice of one bowl or two. A double bowl suits a shared bathroom where two people get ready at the same time. A single bowl at that width gives you a long uninterrupted run of counter, which is the better call if storage and surface space matter more than a second sink. Both are the same footprint, so you can decide on how the room is used rather than on what fits.

The Four Finishes

The range covers two suppliers and four finishes, spanning plain white through to a marble look.

Cloud and Moonstone

These come from Platinum Stone. Cloud is a soft, even white with very little movement in it. In a small bathroom it keeps the room feeling open and lets a bold vanity color or a patterned floor tile do the talking. Moonstone is a warm white carrying gentle grey veining, which gives the surface some depth without pulling attention. Both sit comfortably with white, dove and painted vanities, and both are the value option in the range.

Desert Silver and Miami Vena

These come from Cosentino. Desert Silver is a soft grey with fine, low contrast movement running through it, a natural partner for white, dove and light wood vanities where you want the counter to read as a considered material rather than a plain surface. Miami Vena is bright white with clear grey veining, closest to the look of natural marble, and it gives a bathroom a finished feel that suits a primary suite.

The bowl size differs slightly by supplier. Cloud and Moonstone tops have a 16-1/8 by 11 inch bowl. Desert Silver and Miami Vena have a slightly larger 17 by 11-13/16 inch bowl, and on the 61 inch double it measures 16 by 11-1/2 inches. If you wash a lot of hands in a family bathroom, the larger bowl is worth having.

Designing the Bathroom Around It

A white or near white top is the easiest thing to build a bathroom around, which is why Cloud and Moonstone pair with almost anything. A navy or forest green vanity underneath gives you contrast without the room feeling dark. A white shaker vanity with a Moonstone top reads clean and traditional and stays current for a long time.

Good to Know

A few practical points worth having before you order, so there are no surprises on install day.

• These are made to set sizes. They are not cut down on site, so the vanity underneath needs to be one of the six standard widths. If your vanity is an unusual width or the run is boxed in between two walls, a fabricated top is the better route and we can talk you through it.
• The faucet hole is a single 1-3/8 inch opening. Choose your faucet with that in mind, or ask us first.
• Stone is heavy. A 61 inch top is a two person lift. Plan for that, and make sure the vanity is level and shimmed before the top goes on, because stone will not flex to hide an uneven cabinet.
• Lead time is 2 to 4 weeks. Order the top at the same time as the vanity so the two arrive together rather than leaving a finished cabinet waiting for a counter.
• Coverage on tops differs from cabinets. The Fabuwood cabinet warranty covers the cabinets themselves and states that it does not extend to products installed in connection with them, which includes countertops, appliances and plumbing fixtures. Ask us and we will confirm what applies to the top you choose.
