What Makes Fabuwood Allure Nexus Worth Considering

Some kitchens want the cabinetry to look like furniture. Wide bases, a deep drawer bank, a large island, and doors with enough frame around the panel that the run has weight to it. Nexus is built for exactly that room. At 3 1/4 inches the stiles and rails are the widest in the Allure lineup, and the extra width throws a deeper shadow around each panel, which is what makes a Nexus kitchen read as solid and settled rather than new.

Luna takes the profile the other way to a slim 3/4 inch frame for a more contemporary face. If a wood tone or a stained finish on a traditional frame is what you are picturing, Fusion carries Kona and Timber, and Galaxy offers the widest range of stains in the collection. Both are a better fit for that particular look, and both are built on the same box, so it is a choice about appearance rather than about construction.

How These Cabinets Are Built

• Mortise and tenon door joints, the traditional method of joining a frame-and-panel door, which a frame this wide comfortably supports. The center panel is a reversed MDF panel captured inside the frame.
• HDF stiles and rails on these painted finishes, chosen because engineered board moves less than solid wood as humidity changes through the year, which helps painted joints stay crisp over time.
• All-plywood cabinet box in 3/4 inch select veneered plywood with matching veneer edge banding, stronger and more moisture-resistant than particle board.
• Solid wood face frame, 3/4 by 1 1/2 inch stiles and rails joined with glue and dowels, grooved at the back so the side panels lock into it.
• 5/8 inch solid wood dovetail drawer boxes with a 3/8 inch plywood bottom. Dovetail is the interlocking corner joint that holds a drawer square when it is loaded with plates or pans.
• Full-extension Blum Tandem runners with Blumotion, so a drawer pulls clear of the cabinet and nothing gets stranded at the back, then closes itself quietly.
• Blum Compact Clip hinges with quick-release and Blumotion soft-close, six-way adjustable and opening to 110 degrees, so doors can be trimmed into alignment after they are hung.

Finishes and How They Look

Whites and neutrals. Cloud White is the softer, warmer white and Frost is brighter and cooler.
